Public Meeting:  The Swan’s Island Electric Cooperative will host a Public Meeting, Friday evening, February 12, 2010  at 7 PM , at the Island School Gymnasium for the purpose of answering questions about the Article allocating funds for the Formal Wind Power Feasibility Study, as well as questions concerning the Swan’s Island Wind Power Project.

JANUARY 2010
The Island Institute has committed to raise up to $40,000 (80%) of the anticipated cost of a Formal Wind Power Feasibility Study for a Wind Power Project on Swan’s Island. 

The Island Institute has asked the Towns of Frenchboro and Swan’s Island to provide the remaining 20%

The Board of Trustees of the Swan’s Island Electric Cooperative voted unanimously at their Jan 7, 2010 meeting to ask the Selectmen to put an Article in the Town Warrant allocating $9,000 toward this effort at their March Town Meeting, and to ask the Selectmen of Frenchboro to place an article to raise the remaining $1,000 during their June Town Meeting.

George Baker, member of the Swan's Island Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees and also the CEO of Fox Islands Wind, LLC, gave several presentations on Swan's Island during the summer of 2009.
