Martin, 81, the beloved wife of John Martin, died Nov. 4, 2006, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born April 27, 1925, on Swans Island, the daughter of Edwin and Vinnie (Conary) Gott. Louise taught school on Swans Island for several years. She and her husband operated the Takeout on the Cross Road for many years; she also assisted him as tax collector. Louise worked as clerk for the Maine State Ferry Service for 25 years and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Swans Island. She is survived by her daughter, Dolores Roberts and her significant other, Wilfred Watson, of Bangor and his children, Miranda of Bangor and Vanessa of Waterville; a special grandson, John Roberts of Bangor; several cousins, nieces, nephews, along with her many friends on Swans Island. She and her family appreciate the special care and all her friends she met at Ross Manor. Friends may visit with the family 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Nov. 9, at Atlantic Baptist Church, Swans Island, where services will be held noon with the Rev. Ken Dutille officiating. Gifts in Louise's memory may be made to the Swans Island Ambulance Service, care of Lorraine Stockbridge, Swans Island, ME 04685. Arrangements are by Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
Louise was buried on 9 November 2006 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.
