He was a young and unmarried man. When he left this place in 1825, he settled in Hampden. His wife was Lucy Brown, of Orrington, by whom he had seven children. The Kemptons eventually moved west in 1839 following their children. Mr. Kempton died six weeks after arriving in Iowa.
