Died while working as a crew member on the ferry.

Swan's Island; Elliott R. Smith, 55, husband of Mallys (Kent) Smith, died Thursday unexpectedly while traveling on the Swan's Island Ferry.
He was born here Oct. 13, 1910, the son of George and Nellie (Lunt) Smith and was a member of the Odd Fellows of Swan's Island.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are three daughters, Mrs. Gayle Kent of Swan's Island, Mrs. Barbara Tozier of Portland, Mrs. Brenda McKerna of Dorchester, Mass.; three grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Katrina Baum of Kennebunkport, Mrs. Aska Knights of Rockland, Mrs. Gladys Stimson of Owls Head, Mrs. Glenys Powchard of Hartford, Conn.; three brothers, Oakley and Wendell of Swan's Island and Maurice of Rockland; many neices and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Methodist Church at Swan's Island at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Bruce Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery of Swan's Island. He was buried in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.
