Surviving are her husband of Swan's Island; one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Staples; two sons, Llewellyn and Robert, both of Swan's Island; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Beautte of California; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Atlantic Baptist Church, Swan's Island, with Rev. George Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. She was buried on 18 May 1970 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic. Bessie J. McKay and Guy Carleton Joyce were married on 11 November 1911 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Guy Carleton Joyce was born on 9 October 1890 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. He died on 14 October 1981 in Bar Harbor, Hancock County, Maine, USA. G. CARLTON JOYCE Swan's Island: G. Carlton Joyce, 91, died Oct. 14, 1981, at the Mount Desert Island Hospital. He was born on Swan's Island, the son of Llewellyn and Kate Albee Joyce. He was a member of the Church of God of Swan's Island. Carlton was instrumental in obtaining the Maine State Ferry Service for Swan's Island. Surviving are two sons, Robert M. and Llewellyn V., and one daughter, Phyllis Staples, all of Swan's Island; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three cousins, Reta Torrey, of Manset, Betty Curtis of Florida and Otis Albee of Freedom, N.H. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Atlantic, with the Rev. Paul Fickett officiating. Arrangements by the Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert.
