359. Shirley M. Simmons was born on 16 September 1919 in Lewiston, Androscoggin County, Maine, USA. She died on 14 February 2005 in Spruce Head, Maine, USA. SPRUCE HEAD – Shirley M. Post, 85, died Monday, February 14, 2005, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, after a brief illness.
Born in Lewiston, September 16, 1919, she was the daughter of Elbridge G. and Beatrice Parker Simmons.
June 27, 1938, she married David E. Post at Spruce Head. They have made their home here since that time.
After coming to what she declared was a saving knowledge of Jesus atoning power, in August of 1960, with her husband, Mrs. Post joined the Spruce Head Community Church. Since that time she has been an active member of that church, serving as a church clerk, deaconess, choir member, Sunday school teacher and Ladies Missionary Fellowship Prayer Chairman. Many people recognized her as a devoted, ardent prayer warrior.
In 1970 she began working as a post office clerk, serving in Spruce Head, Owls Head and Tenants Harbor Post Offices. She retired from employment with the Postal Service in 1986.
Foremost, Mrs. Post was devoted to her Lord, family, church and community.
Pre-deceased by one son, Gary M. Post, January 11, 1999, Mrs. Post is survived by her husband of 66 years of Spruce Head; two sons and their wives, Richard and Harriet Post of South Thomaston, Gilbert and Evelyn Post of Spruce Head; one daughter, Janice Lowell and her husband Richard of Hope; three sisters, Joyce Knight of Warren, Beatrice Lamoine of Swans Island, Lois Anderson of Rockland; a brother, Cecil Prior of Round Pond; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Duwayne and Kathie Post, Sheri and Allan Beck, Shelia and Bob Torkington, Darren and Melissa Post, Shelley and Glenn Winchenbach, Richard Jr., and Erin Lowell, Bethany and Dallas Fields, Jessica Lowell; thirteen great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 19th, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. Friends and family are invited to a reception hosted by the Spruce Head Community Church, beginning at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, February 20th, at Spruce Head Community Hall, Village Road, Spruce Head. A graveside service will be announced in the spring.

Gary Milton Post42 was born about 1948. He died on 11 January 1999 in Rockport, Knox County, Maine, USA. He was buried in Ocean View cemetery, South Thomaston, Maine. He attended South Thomaston and Rockland Schools and was a 1966 graduate of Rockland High School. He also attended Glen Cove Bible Institute.

He was a lifelong Spruce Head resident. A faithful member of the Spruce Head Community Church, Mr. Post was a trustee, usher and held various offices.

In 1970 Mr. Post was called to the mission field, serving as a printer until 1973 at the headquarters of the American Mission of Opening Closed Churchs. At the time of his death he was employed by Courier Publications.

He died of cancer.
