Minturn: Mrs. Bessie M. Thompson, 84, widow of Edward Thompson, died Aug. 24 at an Ellsworth hospital. She was born June 10, 1891, the daughter of David and Cora (Stewart) Bridges. She is survived by four cousins, Mrs. John Hughes, Mrs. Milton Hennigar, Mrs. Lawrence Orcutt, all of Swan's Island; and Mrs. A. B. Snyder of California; one niece; one nephew. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Advent Christian Church of Swan's Island. Burial will be in Grindle Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert. She was buried on 27 August 1975 in Grindle Hill cemetery, Swan's Island. No children.

Bessie May Bridges and Edward LaFayette Thompson were married on 14 October 1909 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Edward LaFayette Thompson was born on 2 February 1887 in Deer Isle, Maine, USA (Sunshine). He died on 4 September 1959 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Reportedly fell to his death from a wharf to a float while intoxicated.
