Bass Harbor: Merle E. Black, 82, died Feb. 10, 1981, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born Feb. 11, 1899, son of Allen and Fannie Torrey Black. He is survived by a daughter, Rose Kneeland; and three grandchildren of Marlborough, Conn.; three sisters, Della Mark, Sharon, Conn., Louise Gaffney, Franklin, and Harriet Dow, Ellsworth; two brothers, Malcolm Black, Ellsworth, and Gilbert Black, Bass Harbor. A retired lobster fisherman, he was a lifelong resident of Bass Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert, with the Rev. Roland Lord officiating. Friends may call at the funeral chapel 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday. Merle E. Black-13791 had the following children: |
