She attended Richmond High School. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Carlyle Staples of Hallowell and formerly of Pittston; her son, Dale Staples and his wife, Loralle, of East Waterford, and their children, Benjamin, Melanie and Brandon; two brothers, David Martin of Gardiner and Leslie Martin of Richmond, and three sisters, Hazel Matson of Pittston, Helen Moody of Richmond and Glennis Martin of Gardiner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A private memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. Burial will be in the family lot on Swan Island.
