Swan's Island: Chase Savage, 81, died Nov. 10 at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born at Northeast Harbor, June 29, 1896, son of Frederick and Flora (Salisbury) Savage. He was a member of Aurora Masonic Lodge, Rockland. He is survived by his beloved wife, Luella (Holmes) Savage of Swan's Island; four sons, Carlton of Orrington, Francis of Bangor, Willard of Hermon, and Stanley of Los Banos, Calif.; three daughters, Miss Flora Mae Savage of Los Banos, Calif., Mrs. Marguerite Worthington of Frankfort, Mich., and Mrs. Donna Williamson of Sumter, S.C.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m., Nov. 12 at Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert, with the Rev. David Stillman officiating. Commital services will be held at Swan's Island at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Thomas Bullard officiating. If friends desire, they may make contributions to the Swan's Island Methodist Church building fund in Chase's memory. He was buried on 12 November 1977 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.
