Swan's Island; Mrs. Mary O. Joyce, 84, widow of Roscoe Joyce, died Wednesday at an Ellsworth hospital after a brief illness.
She was born here Feb. 13, 1882, daughter of George and Belle (Stanley) Smith.
She was a member of the Atlantic Baptist Church and of the Rebekah Lodge.
Surviving are a son, James B., a daughter, Myrtis Colbeth, a brother Raphia Smith, all of Swan's Island; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Atlantic Baptist Church, the Rev. Bruce Mathewson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill, Atlantic. She was buried in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.

Mary Olive "Mame" Smith and Roscoe Conklin Joyce were married on 1 January 1903 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Married by Levi B. Joyce. Roscoe Conklin Joyce was born on 25 September 1882 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. He died on 21 September 1949 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Self inflicted gunshot and drowning at his wharf. Reportedly despondant over postrate cancer.
Death certificate signed by Dr. Arnold Walker. He was buried in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.
