BLUE HILL - Idyl McNeil, 89, died Jan. 19, 2005, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. Idyl was born Nov. 8, 1915, in Sedgwick, the daughter of J. Frank Maker and Almeda Freethy She worked as a telephone operator in Sedgwick, and as a CNA for 10 years at the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, and 10 years as a private duty CNA. She was a member of O.E.S. of Sedgwick, past Nobel Grand of the Rebekahs of Brooklin, Life Member of the VFW Aux. No. 2280 of Bellevue, NE, Charter Member of World War II Memorial Society, Life Member of the American Legion Aux. No. 0084 of Orono, Veazie Salmon Club, Eagles Club No. 3177 of Brewer where she had severed as an officer for five years. Idyl is survived by a daughter, Helena Tainter Dow and her husband, Wade; son, Henry Lawson and his wife, Jane; grandchildren, Forrest Dow and wife, Colleen, Belinda Dow, Jody Allen and husband, Bruce, Darlene Allen and husband, Kermit Jr., Kent Lawson and wife, Angela, Lenny Lawson and wife, Marilyn, Tania Allen and husband, Mathew; great-grandchildren, Angel, Ashley, Ben, Sonja, Andrea, Mandi, Erika, Ryan, Tyler, Cameron, Morgan, Oliver, Alorah, Gabriel, Alicia; and great-great-grandchild, Rylee; and special niece, Evelyn Barrows. She was predeceased by her 12 year old son, Kenneth (Sonny) Tainter Jr.; and his father; two sisters, one brother, and two husbands, Carlton Stewart and John McNeil. Service of remembrance will be held 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 141 South Street, Blue Hill, ME 04614. In lieu of flower's donations may be made in Idyl's name to the American Brain Tumor Assoc., 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018.
