Erwin Walter Kent and Diana Lee Orcutt were married on 22 July 1978 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Diana Lee Orcutt, daughter of Laurence Edward Orcutt and Beverly Lois Simmons, was born on 11 April 1939 in Rockland, Knox County, Maine, USA. She died Breast Cancer on 3 January 2008 at the age of 68 in Harpswell, Cumberland County, Maine, USA. HARPSWELL - Diana Lee (Orcutt) Kent, 67, beloved and cherished wife of Erwin Kent, went home peacefully Jan. 3, 2008, after an eight-year battle with breast cancer. Diana was born in Rockland, to Lawrence and Beverly (Simmons) Orcutt, previously deceased. When Diana was five years old, her father gave his life in service in World War II. She never stopped missing him. She was raised on Swans Island and then spent 20 years in Seal Cove and Bangor. In 1977, she moved to Cortland Manor, N.Y., to continue raising their family with her husband of almost 30 years, Erwin W. Kent. After her children went to college, Diana went back to college to become a counselor for alcoholics and addicts, having always had a deep compassion for those suffering with that illness. She enjoyed private practice for several years and was admired and respected among her peers. Once retired Diana and Erwin built their dream home on the coast of Maine, where Diana spent hours creating a beautiful home and stunning gardens. Every year the family would travel from all throughout the country to share Thanksgiving dinner together, determined to keep the family tradition alive for the grandchildren. Diana often could be found in her third floor studio creating gorgeous quilts and family heirlooms for her eight children and 14 grandchildren. She will be especially remembered for her incredible artistry. Diana is survived by her loving husband, Erwin Kent; eight loving children and their spouses, Pamela Johnson, Lynn and Peter Costello, Wayne and Jennifer Johnson, Laurel Johnson, Laurie and Frank Pzschowsky, Roger and Donna Kent, Terri and Carl Pascarella, and Lisa and John Orlowsky. Diana had 14 grandchildren in whom she delighted, Ian, Ryan, Peter, Stephen, Kelly, Heidi, Ben, Matthew, Carol, Alana, Andrew, James, John and Drew. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Jerry Orcutt, Nancy Carter, Richard Carter, Joanna Kohler; and lifelong friend, Elsie Coffee. Thank you Diana for loving us and sharing yourself with us. We will miss you every day of our lives. Friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert.
