Rockport: Mrs. Elsie T. Hawkins, 77, of Grove Street, Rockport, died June 9, 1980, in Camden. She was the wife of the late Leland Hawkins. She was born in Swan's Island, Maine, Feb. 4, 1903, the daughter of Levi and Daisy (Joyce) Torrey. She had been a resident of Rockport for the past 50 years and formerly was employed in Schoolhouse Togs, Rockport. She was past matron of Harbor Lights Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edward Stinson of Camden, Mrs. Joyce Andrews of Rockport, and Mrs. Douglas Larrabee of Scarborough, Maine; one brother, Dr. Raymond Torrey of Belfast; one sister, Mrs. Howard Robinson of Burlington, Vt.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Laite Funeral Home, Camden, with the Rev. Quentin Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Rocksville Cemetery, Rockport. If friends prefer, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Camden Ambulance Association. She was buried in Rockville cemetery, Rockport, Maine. Elsie M. Rockport: Leland Hawkins, 77, died Thursday at a Camden hospital. He was the husband of Elsie Hawkins.
He was born June 12, 1900 at St. George, the son of John and Annie Kempster Hawkins. He was a machinist and owned and operated a trap mill.
Besides his wife, survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Edward Stinson of Camden, Mrs. Joyce Andrews of Rockport and Mrs. Katherine Clarke of Rockland; two brothers, A. Kempster Hawkins and Julian Hawkins, both of St. George; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Laite Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Rockville Cemetery. He was buried in Rockville cemetery. Elsie M. Torrey-954 and Leland Hawkins-1477 had the following children: |
