The passing last week of Franklin H. Wood, real estate broker and surveyer in Rockland for many years, ended an era. While the usual picture of a real estate salesperson is that of a bustling, glib outgoing sales-oriented individual, Franklin Wood was very different. He was quiet, scholarly and one who did his own thing, as the younger generation puts it. To save his clients from climbing three flights of stairs needlessly, Wood kept a sign in the window of his offices in the Court House indicating whether or not he was in. He was a resident expert on land development plans in Knox County and often was the last resort in straightening out property lines. He will be missed in the Court House and in the community. He was buried in Achorn cemetery, Rockland.
