Atlantic: Merrill W. Joyce, 79, died at an Ellsworth hospital Dec. 9. He was born on Swan's Island Feb. 2, 1897, son of Ellis and Rena (Staples) Joyce. He is survived by his widfe Lillian (Stanley) Joyce of Atlantic; a brother Basil of Swan's Island. Funeral services will held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Atlantic Baptist Church, the Rev. Thomas Bullard officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Atlantic. Arrangements are by the Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert. He was buried on 11 December 1976 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.
