Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Bessie (Herrick) Joyce of Atlantic; two sons, Keith and Roy, both of Swan's Island; three daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Staples, Mrs. Gladys Joyce, and Mrs. Alice Burns, all of Swan's Island; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Atlantic Baptist Church with the Rev. Malcolm McDuffie Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Atlantic. He was buried on 5 October 1970 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.

Chester Leroy Joyce and Bessie A. Herrick were married on 10 November 1915 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Bessie A. Herrick was born on 31 July 1895 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Birth attended by Dr. H. W. Small. Weight 9 3/4 pounds. She died on 22 July 1977 in Bar Harbor, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Atlantic, Swan's Island: Bessie Herrick Joyce, 81, widow of Chester Joyce died July 22 at a Mount Desert Island hospital. She was born at Swan's Island, July 31, 1895, daughter of Charles and Helen Smith Herrick. Surviving are: three daughters Mrs. Gladys Joyce and Mrs. Marguerite Staples, both of Atlantic, and Alice Burns of Swan's Island; a son, Roy of Atlantic; two sisters, Mrs. Myra Bridges of Rockland and Mrs. Laura Jane Tenney of Sedgwick; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Atlantic Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Bullard, the Rev. Malcolm McDuffie and the Rev. Al Currier officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Atlantic, with arrangements by the Fernald Funeral Chapel, Mount Desert.
[Mother, Bessie and son, Keith funeral services were held together. Bessie died the day after Keith.] She was buried on 24 July 1977 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.
