559	i.	David C. Black Jr.70 was born on 28 February 1971 in Bar Harbor, Hancock County, Maine, USA. He died on 11 June 1987 in Drowned between Placentia and Black Island. He was buried in Hill Rest cemetery, West Tremont.71 David Black Jr. was hauling lobster traps last thursday morning between Black Island and Placentia Island off Mount Desert Island with George Lawson Jr., 21 of Tremont. The two were aboard Lawson's 30-foot, wooden fishing vessel Beth when it caught fire, according to a Coast Guard spokesman in Southwest Harbor. The two men jumped overboard to escape the fire. Lawson was rescued by the F/V Timothy Wayne shortly afterwards and taken to Bass Harbor where a waiting Southwest Harbor ambulance transported him to Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor, according to a Coast Guard spokesman. Black was not found till Friday morning, despite a search by local fishing vessels and power yachts which was initially organized by Captain Almer L. Dinsmore, master of the M/V Everett Libby, the State Ferry that plies between Bass Harbor and Swan's Island; Coast Guard vessels form Southwest Harbor, Coast Guard aircraft from Cape Cod, and Department of Marine Resources Marine Patrol wardens.
