Harriet S. Johnson, 90, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2000, at a Deer Isle health-care facility, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Manset, March 26, 1910, the daughter of John T. and Dorothy A. (Russell) LeMoine. Harriet married Oscar L. Johnson Sept. 8, 1928, on Swan's Island.
She is survived by her children, Barbara Boyce of Stonington, Betty Lawson and her husband, Calvin, of Stonington, Brenda Witham and her husband, Larry of Sebec, and Neal Johnson and his wife, Bonnie, of Newburgh; 14 grandchildren, Ted, Jeffrey, George, and Cathy Boyce, Becky Gray, Cindy Coombs, Kim Lawson, Debby Oliver, Sally Pierce, Trudy Higgins, Todd Lawson, Tammy Campbell, Melissa Beaton, and Sandi Johnson; 29 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Robbins and her husband, James; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband; two brothers, Everett and George LeMoine; a sister, Violet Sadler; a grandson, Jim Campbell; and a son-in-law, George Boyce. She was a beautiful lady with a true joy of life, which was reflected in the great love she shared with her children and many grandchildren. We will each miss her, and hold her in our hearts always.
A funeral service was held Aug. 6, 2000, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Main Street, Stonington, with the Rev. Gary Vencill officiating. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Oceanville. Gifts in memory of Harriet may be sent to the Island Nursing Home, Route 15, Deer Isle, ME 04627.
