1. Jephtha Benson was born about 1757. He died about 1855 in Brooksville, Hancock County, Maine, USA. He served in the military in Revolutionary War. Jephtha served in the military in War of 1812. Came to Little Deer Isle about 1800 from near Paris, Maine. Was a Revolutionary war soldier as well as in war of 1812. Moved to Marshall's Island off Swan's Island. Spent his last years in Brooksville. Reported to have a very volatile disposition.

Jephtha Benson and Mary Ann "Mercy" Kench were married about 1831. Mary Ann "Mercy" Kench was born on 15 August 1792 in Brooksville, Hancock County, Maine, USA. She died on 30 June 1874 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. She was buried in Grindle Hill cemetery, Swan's Island.
