Swan's Island: Mrs. Elizabeth (Sprague) Morse, 83, died Sunday in Schenectady, N.Y.
She was born on Swan's Island, and was the widow of Nelson T. Morse. She was a member of the Swan's Island Methodist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Henry Ure of Schenectady and Mrs. Robert Holmes of Southboro, Mass.; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. in the Swan's Island Methodist Church with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating. Burial will be in Grindle Hill Cemetery, Swan's Island. Lizzie was buried on 23 April 1969 in Grindle Hill cemetery, Swan's Island. Elizabeth M. Swan's Island; Nelson T. Morse, 92, former clerk and treasurer of the Town of Swan's Island, died Wednesday Jan. 18 at Schenectady, N. Y., following a short illness.
Mr. Morse operated a general store and ship chandlery in Swan's Island for many years. He was born in Friendship, Feb. 22, 1868 and attended schools there. During his younger years, he was keeper of the Moose Peak Lighthouse and later was in the lumber business in Prospect.
He had been a resident of Swan's Island until about three years ago and then resided with his daughters, in Southville, Mass. and Schenectady, N. Y.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Sprague Morse; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Ure of Schenectady and Mrs. Robert Holmes of Southville, Mass.; a sister, Mrs. Edgar S. Hawkes if South Portland; five grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan 23 at Swan's Island. He was buried on 23 January 1961 in Grindle Hill cemetery, Swan's Island. Nelson was a Proprietor of N. T. Morse General Store in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. He was a Town Clerk in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA.
