CLARENCE 'GEORGE' RUDGE BANGOR - Clarence Everett Rudge, 76, died March 6, 2007, at his home. He was born Dec. 14, 1930, in Rock-land, son of George Everett and Marion R. (Gott) Rudge. George grew up in Levant and was a 1950 graduate of Bangor High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force and after retirement from the military, he was employed as service manager for Knight Auto Sales and later a salesperson for Sullivan Ford Sales. In 1972 George founded the Northeast Auto and Cycle School. During the 30 plus years of operating a successful traffic safety school, he became well known and respected for his care, concern and patience for all his students. George was proud of his Masonic affiliations, being a member of St. Andrew's Lodge No. 83 AF & AM of Bangor, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Bangor, Maine Consistory 32 degree, active in Anah Shriners and member of Provost Guard serving as provost marshall. He was also an aid to Anah Shriners and directors' staff, a past president of Bangor Brewer Shrine Club, a member of Order of the Q and the Pushaw Royal Yacht Club. One of his greatest accomplishments was receiving his pilot's license and flying his own Cessna. Surviving are his wife, Pauline "Polly" (Morse) Rudge of Bangor; four children, Linda Childers-Bowlby and her husband, Gregory Bowlby, of Carmel and her children, Lee and Melissa Childers, Diane Rudge of Missouri and her son, Heath Warren and his children, Heaven and Dayton, Karen Kelley and her husband, Gary, of Hermon and their son, Chasen, Randy E. Rudge and Kim of Hampden and Kim's children, Brittany and Branden; one sister, Betty Melvin and her husband, Floyd, of Bangor; sister-in-law, Jeanette Arsenault of Bangor; nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Clayton Blackstone officiating.
