Southwest Harbor: Elmer S. Davis, 72, died Oct. 23, at an Ellsworth hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Frenchboro Jan 7, 1899, the son of Leamon and Agnes Joyce Davis.
Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Arlene Watson of Nashua, N. H., Mrs. Ramona Turner, Southwest Harbor, Mrs. Janet Ripley, Thomaston, Mrs. Joan Sholty, Peru, Ind., Mrs. Maureen Ussery, Hudson, N.H., Mrs. Dorothy Colbath, Bass Harbor, Mrs, Margerite Parkhurst, Wilmington, Mass., Mrs. Juanita Twigg, England; two sons, Raymond of Bangor and Robert of Southwest Harbor; one brother, Granville, Bass Harbor; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Thurston, Southwest Harbor and Mrs. Florence Atwood, Woburn, Mass.; 34 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Monday at noon at the Fernald Funeral Home, Mount Desert with the Rev. Neal Bousfield of the Maine Seacoast Mission officiating. Burial will be in Frenchboro. He was buried in Frenchboro, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Elmer Spofford "Goog" Davis and Ella Nettie Tinker were married on 30 January 1928 in Frenchboro, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Ella Nettie Tinker, daughter of Raymond A. Tinker and Nettie E. McKay, was born on 13 March 1908 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA.
