15. Zulma E. Tinker was born on 27 January 1907 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. She died on 13 February 2003 in Camden, Knox County, Maine, USA. A graveside committal service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on May 16, 2003 at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Swans Island.
LINCOLNVILLE - Zulma E. Higgins, 96, died Thursday, February 13, 2003 at Windward Gardens in Camden.
Born at Swans Island, January 27, 1907, she was the daughter of Raymond A. and Nettie McKay Tinker. She was educated in local schools.
February 6, 1932, she married Maynard Higgins at Frenchboro. Mr. Higgins died in 1969.
In earlier years, she worked in the Swans Island fish processing industry. More recently she worked as a personal care provider in Southwest Harbor.
During the depression, she cut hair, bartering her services for preserves. Mrs. Higgins was known on the island as woman with a “Big Heart”. She enjoyed helping others and cared for her nieces and nephews when they were little. She enjoyed making donuts and was know as the “Donut Lady” on the island. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
She is survived by one brother, Henry Tinker of Rockland as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2003 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A spring graveside committal will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Swans Island.
She was buried on 16 May 2003 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic. No children.

Swan's Island: Maynard P. Higgins, 57, died Tuesday at Mount Desert following a short illness.
He was born in Tremont March 24, 1911, the son of Warren and Lida (Lunt) Higgins.
He was a lobster fisherman.
Surviving are his mother of Swan's Island; his widow, Mrs. Zulma (Tinker) Higgins of Swan's Island; one brother, Leonard of Rockland; one sister, Mrs. Nora Lunt of Manset; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Full Gospel Church at Swan's Island with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. He was buried on 28 February 1969 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic.
