Stonington: Mrs. Esther A. Knowlton, 88, died Sept. 21 1976 at a local hospital. She was born at Swan's Island, Feb. 3, 1888, daughter of Dana and Abby Stanley Burns. She was a fifty-year member of Harbor View Chapter, OES, Deer Isle. She is survived by her husband, Edwin of Stonington; one son, Chadbourne of Gravette, Ark.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. James Coombs and Mrs. Hattie Welch, both of Stonington; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday Sept. 24, at 2 p.m. at the Bragdon Funeral Home, Stonington. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Stonington. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. She was buried in Woodlawn cemetery, Stonington.

Esther A. Burns and Edward A. "Edwin" Knowlton were married. Edward A. "Edwin" Knowlton was born on 4 November 1885 in Stonington, Hancock County, Maine, USA. He died on 15 July 1980 in Stonington, Hancock County, Maine, USA. He was buried in Evergreen cemetery, Stonington.
