Swan's Island: Mrs. Lillian E. Smith, 89, widow of Bert Smith, died Jan 18 at a Bar Harbor nursing home. She was born in Rockland Feb. 22, 1885, daughter of Horace and Rose (Sadler) Ash. She was a member of the Advent Christian Church, Swan's Island. She had worked as an operator of the Swan's Island Telephone Co. for 40 years. She is survived by several cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Advent Christian Church, Swan's Island. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Lil was buried on 20 January 1975 in Rose Hill cemetery, Atlantic. Swan's Island telephone operator for 40 years. 1920-1925 & 1939-1966.
