He died on 28 June 2005 in Bangor, Maine, USA hospital. MILFORD - Rudolph "Rudy" Cosenze, 77, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at a Bangor rehabilitation facility. He was born April 8, 1928, in Millinocket, a son of the late Gabriel and Maria M. (Maiona) Cosenze, both from Italy. Rudy attended Millinocket schools and was a graduate of Higgins Classical Institute. He received a BS degree from the University of Maine as well as obtaining an associate degree in applied science and was a graduate of the U.S. Department of Labor Training Institute where he held four certificates as a certified instructor of Safety Management. Rudy was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was an advisor of the Old Town High "Y" and served on the Board of Directors for the Old Town/Orono YMCA. Rudy was the construction coordinator of the Ronald McDonald house of Bangor. He served on various committees of Milford including; president of the PTA, Town moderator and the Milford Planning Board. Rudy worked in the construction industry for over 13 years before teaching in the Bangor School System at Garland Middle School and Bangor High School for two years. He then moved on to Eastern Maine Tech College where he taught Architectural Technology for 23 years. Rudy was selected as an honorary member of the "M" Club for his distinguished service and support to UMO Athletics. He served on the Board of Directors for many years and was later elected president. He served on numerous committees of the UMO Athletics including the establishment of the Sam Sezak Student Award as well as many other scholarships. Rudy enjoyed his Swans Island home and its wonderful people; it was his favorite place to be among his many friends there. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Cathy-Mae (White) Cosenze; daughter, Catherine M. Shorten and her husband, Charles Shorten III, of Northwood, N.H.; two sons, David Cosenze of Milford, and Steven Cosenze and his wife, Rebecca (Morin) Cosenze; four grandsons, Charles, Christopher, twin grandsons, Eric and Jon; he is also survived by a brother, Tony Cosenze and his wife, Kath?, of Shirley, Mass.; three sisters, Flora Cosenze of Bangor, Loretta Deveau and her husband, Albert, of East Millinocket; sister, Anna Co-Wallis and her husband, Bob, of Wilton; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two nephews, Jeffery Deveau and Gregory Co-Wallis. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Parish in Old Town with the Rev. Rudolph Leveille, celebrant. Friends and family are invited to the Holy Family Parish Hall immediately following the service for a luncheon and continued fellowship.
