Mary Bowden Stinson and Capt. James Freeman Gott were married on 13 February 1859 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Married by Rev. Benjamin F. Stinson.
Capt. James Freeman Gott was born on 10 May 1838 in Swan's Island, Hancock County, Maine, USA. He was buried in 1875 in Tremont, Hancock County, Maine, USA. Temporary burial. He died on 29 November 1875 in Drowned. lost at sea off schooner 'John Somes'. Lost near Boothbay Harbor. Buried at Tremont. Later (31 oct 1895) moved remains to Swan's Island. Dr. H. W. Small indicated his drowning death occurred in the year 1893. James was buried on 31 October 1895 in Grindle Hill cemetery, Swan's Island. Body moved from Tremont where initially buried in about 1895.
